Five everyday ways to boost your Qantas Points balance

Who knew grocery shopping could be so exciting? Stock up, check out and then check in using your points (maybe just remember to switch the basket for a bag before you get to the baggage belt!)

Let’s just put it out there. Everyone loves points and there are lots of expert solutions on how to max out how many you can earn.

So while some people have turned it into a science, we’re here to let you know how easy it is to top up your points balance.

And while some banks are reducing the earn rates on credit cards, they’re still a good way to ‘double dip’ and earn on your card and with our partners, so there’s still plenty of ways to stop making ‘pointless’ purchases. (Oh, don’t worry, there are more puns below.)

Just remember that to stop your points expiring, you need to have some sort of activity (either earning or using points) at least once every 18 months.

Here’s five ways to top up your points tally:

1. Turn food into flights

Food shopping is less of a chore knowing it can get your closer to your next holiday. You can earn Woolworths Points for every dollar spent in-store and online at Woolworths Supermarkets, BWS and selected Caltex Woolworths petrol sites. There were some changes to the program so make sure you’ve opted in since 31 August 2016 to convert these to Qantas Points via your Woolworths Rewards account and earn 870 Qantas Points for every 2,000 Woolworths Points. There are also regular bonus offers available to boost your balance.

2. Walk your way to your next reward

Yes it’s that easy, simply walking and switching your health insurance lets you earn points with Qantas Assure. As a Qantas Frequent Flyer you can earn up to 75,000 Qantas Points on sign up – enough to fly from Sydney to London – if you take out a Qantas Assure health insurance policy and use the Qantas Assure App to count your steps.

3. Talk up your points balance

You can make your mobile phone spend more rewarding with our friends at Vodafone. With a Vodafone MyMix Red Global plan, you can earn up to 15,000 Qantas Points.

4. Order takeaway to take off

Make forking out on your next meal more rewarding and earn two Qantas Points for every dollar you spend with Deliveroo. If you’re looking for a dining experience beyond the couch, you can earn 100 Qantas Points per person at more than 4,000 restaurants through Qantas Restaurants.

5. Get a step closer to check-in earning points at the online check-out

The Online Mall makes shopping sprees a lot more rewarding with five Qantas Points per dollar up for grabs with some retailers. You can earn Qantas Points on everything from homewares to music and books to high-end fashion and shop at international retailers like Bloomingdale’s, Marks and Spencer and Selfridges.

With more than 270 partners in the program, there are thousands of opportunities to earn Qantas Points on everyday spend as well as life’s luxuries so check out qantaspoints.com for more ideas on how you can get to the pointy end of the plane using your points.
