Published on 28th June 2013

QantasLink has kicked off the 2013 snow season with its first direct flight from to Mount Hotham from Sydney today, allowing ski-enthusiasts to spend less time in traffic and more time on the mountain.

QantasLink’s direct flights from Sydney to Mount Hotham are the only services to an alpine resort in Australia, making Mount Hotham the most accessible in the country.

Qantas Executive Manager Steve Limbrick said QantasLink had operated flights to the region for over 10 years and was pleased to provide the service again for 2013.

“Our Sydney to Mount Hotham service sees thousands of snow enthusiasts experience the powder capital every season,” Mr Limbrick said.

“With the snow starting to fall at Mount Hotham, we are seeing a big jump in people booking flights to make the most of the snow season, particularly from Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide.

“Our direct flights from Sydney provide fly-in, fly-out convenience not offered at any other Australian alpine resort.

“Landing just 20 kilometres from the slopes, QantasLink gives skiers more time on the mountain and means more interstate and international visitors can get from Sydney to the snow in just 80 minutes.”

Mount Hotham Skiing Company General Manager Belinda Trembath said she was excited to welcome QantasLink’s first fly-in guests of the season arriving at Hotham Airport today.

“’The continuation of QantasLink’s annual winter service gives our guests the option to enjoy flying in with no driving, a great way to start and finish a very convenient and fun snow holiday.” said Ms Trembath.

QantasLink will operate 88 flights from Sydney to Mount Hotham starting 28 June and ending 8 September 2013.
