Qantas has today officially opened a new Regional Lounge at Tamworth Airport to help meet the growing demand for premium air travel from the region’s business and leisure travellers.

Qantas Domestic Executive Manager Customer Experience Samantha Taranto said the lounge would give Tamworth customers a premium experience from the time they arrive at the airport until they reach their destination.

“QantasLink has shared in a long history with the Tamworth community since the airline established its operations there 1949,” Ms Taranto said.

“Tamworth is an important part of our regional network, so we are committed to providing customers with the best travel experience on the ground as well as in the air.

“QantasLink recently added eight flights per week between Sydney and Tamworth, resulting in more than 4,000 seats per week.”

Ms Taranto said the construction of the lounge, which is the 12th regional lounge across Australia, was a clear indication of the confidence QantasLink has in Tamworth’s expanding regional business and leisure tourism.

“Qantas Regional Lounges are modelled on Qantas Clubs and offer guests a quiet space to relax or work before their flight,” she said.

“The new Tamworth lounge will offer complimentary light refreshments and beverages, magazines and newspapers, wireless internet, Foxtel and comfortable seating.

“The lounge also showcases a signature artwork from local artist, Warwick Keen.”

The new lounge is located beyond the security screening point in the departure lounge.

QantasLink operates 72 flights between Tamworth and Sydney each week giving locals seamless and accessible travel opportunities through Sydney to Australia and the rest of the world via our Qantas international services, Oneworld and Emirates partnership international networks.

QantasLink currently employs approximately 100 people in Tamworth across engineering, finance, customer service and ground operations. Tamworth is also the heavy maintenance home for the airline’s 50 Dash 8 Q series fleet as well as finance administration.

QantasLink has been a major sponsor of the Tamworth Music Festival for 2 years.
