Qantas today announced a number of measures to assist stranded passengers affected by the grounding of Air Australia.
INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL
For Air Australia international passengers that have already commenced their journey, Qantas will match the applicable sector fare of the customer’s ticket, regardless of return date.
The following special fares are also available for Air Australia passengers that have not commenced their journey for travel from 17 February 2012 until 31 March 2012. To access these special fares customers must book by 11.59pm (AEDT) on 29 February 2012.

*Fares, taxes and surcharges correct as at 17 February 2012 for ticketing in Australia for journeys commencing from Australia, and subject to change. For journeys originating outside Australia, you will be quoted the above fares in Australia Dollars and taxes and surcharges may differ.
Special fares will be available to be booked via Qantas Contact Centres (Phone 13 13 13) and are subject to applicable booking class availability at the time of booking.
When booking via Qantas Contact Centres, Air Australia customers will be required to quote their valid booking reference/confirmation number in order to be provided with access to the special fare. Customers must present their Air Australia e-ticket itinerary at the Qantas Sales Desk prior to check-in for travel.
DOMESTIC TRAVEL
For Air Australia domestic passengers who have already commenced their journey, Qantas will match the applicable sector fare of the customer’s ticket, for travel between now and 29 February 2012.
The following special fares are also available for Air Australia passengers for travel from 17 February 2012 until 31 March 2012. To access these special fares customers must book by 11.59pm (AEDT) on 29 February 2012.
Qantas One Way Economy Fare (All inclusive AUD)
Melbourne – Brisbane $ 159
Brisbane – Port Headland $ 492
Broome – Perth $ 245
Special fares will be available to be booked via Qantas Contact Centres (Phone 13 13 13) and are subject to applicable booking class availability at the time of booking.
When booking via Qantas Contact Centres, Air Australia customers will be required to quote their valid booking reference/confirmation number in order to be provided with access to the special fare. Customers must present their Air Australia e-ticket -/itinerary at the Qantas Sales Desk prior to check-in for travel.
Qantas will assist affected passengers by accommodating them on its flights where possible.
All Qantas booking service fees and card payment fees will be waived.
Qantas may also schedule additional services.
Special fares will not be available via qantas.com.
Air Australia passengers who purchased a Qantas ticket after the grounding of Air Australia and prior to Qantas announcing the special assistance policy, will be provided with a refund on application of the difference between the applicable Air Australia sector fare and the Qantas fare paid for the same sector. Affected customers should email customercare@qantas.com.au supplying their contact details, Air Australia and Qantas ticket/itinerary receipt details.
Qantas will commence services between Brisbane and Port Headland operating from 13 March 2012 using Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
Qantas also stands ready to commence operations on Perth – Derby at short notice. This service is currently regulated by the Western Australian Government.
